Go-coordinate scenario bounds

Behind-receiver scenario bounds
+6.691 to +10.069 m

0 m = zone entry; positive coordinates follow the running direction. Receiver starts at 0.500 m. These calculated positions are starting scenarios for repeated practice.

A positive behind-distance means upstream; a negative value means downstream. The sign is preserved. Bounds include entered timing/reference bounds and observed trial spread, not a confidence interval.

Practice scenario only. Check the full pass and local rules on track; this does not establish a legal exchange.

Sensitivity: an additional 0.010 s in cue-to-exchange duration shifts the calculated coordinate -0.100 m; an additional 1 m/s incoming section speed shifts it -3.200 m. Other inputs held fixed.

Sampled baton margins

Whole-baton snapshots; legality not determined.

Only first-touch and release snapshots are summarized. They do not prove the baton stayed inside throughout the pass, or establish receiver-foot, lane or other compliance.

Calculation, assumptions and rule source

x_go = x_exchange_reference − median(incoming section speed) × median(outgoing cue-to-exchange duration)

Incoming section speed is extrapolated as constant until exchange; acceleration and deceleration are not modelled.

Outgoing acceleration is represented only by the measured cue-to-exchange duration at this setup. Changing the receiver start or exchange target requires new trials.

Cue reaction is already included. Reference points, reach convention, surface, fatigue and incoming approach must match the trials.

Bounds combine observed extrema and entered absolute measurement bounds. They are scenarios, not confidence intervals; receiver start and incoming section distance are treated as exact.

Sampled whole-baton positions only cover first touch and release. Intermediate motion, receiver feet, lane and other rules are not established; no legal-exchange guarantee.

World Athletics TR24 · 30 m 4×100 takeover zone · checked 2026-10-15. The whole baton and full transfer matter; the receiver must begin the receiving movement within the zone.

Measured setup · 4×100

Changing the receiver start or exchange target requires new outgoing trials. The formula extrapolates incoming speed as constant; it does not model acceleration.

Incoming late-leg splits

Repeat the same measured section. The timing bound is for the whole elapsed split, not each timestamp.

Outgoing cue-to-exchange trials

Time from the visual cue to the matched exchange reference, including the receiver's cue reaction once. Do not add a generic reaction correction.

Optional observed whole-baton positions

Measure both ends of the whole baton at first receiver touch and at release by the incoming runner. These two snapshots do not cover the entire pass.
