No. A mile is 1609.344m, so a 1600 is about 9.3m short — worth roughly 1.5 seconds for most high school runners. Statisticians convert a 1600 to a mile by multiplying by 1609.344/1600 (about ×1.00584); a 4:20.00 1600 is approximately a 4:21.52 mile. Records and all-time lists treat them as separate events.

The NCAA's official factor is ×0.9259: multiply the mile time in seconds by 0.9259 and round up. A 4:00.00 mile converts to a 3:42.22 1500m. Going the other way, the NCAA's own example uses ×1.08, so a 3:49.71 1500m equals a 4:08.09 mile.

Typically 0.5 to 1.0 seconds, because relay legs (after the first) get a rolling start and skip the blocks and reaction time. Coaches usually add about 0.75s to a relay split to estimate the open-400 equivalent — so a 48.2 split suggests roughly a 48.7-49.2 open 400. This is a rule of thumb, not an official conversion.

The NCAA publishes gender-specific factors: ×1.0749 for men and ×1.0771 for women in the dash, and ×1.0766 (men) / ×1.0755 (women) for the hurdles. Multiply the 55m time in seconds and round up — a 6.30 men's 55m converts to a 6.78 60m.

It is a widely used coaching predictor, not an official conversion. Multiplying a 600m time by 1.41 estimates 800m potential assuming similar fitness and even pacing — a 1:20.00 600m points to about a 1:52.80 800m. Treat it as a target-setting tool; race execution and endurance still decide the real result.
