XC = Riegel^1.06(track) × 1.06
(XC → track divides by the same factor — a true inverse)Enter a track / road time above to see the xc course equivalent. Or start from an example:
This is an estimator, not a measurement. Track → XC multiplies by the course factor; XC → track divides by the same factor so the conversion is a true inverse. The folk rule “XC to track ×0.94” approximates dividing by 1.06 (1÷1.06 ≈ 0.943). Footing, weather, and course measurement vary far more in XC than on the track — coaches typically quote +15–30s per 5K, or 10–15s per mile, versus a flat race.
